SHOT LIST / HIGHLIGHTS
►Spring grizzly bears photo opportunities:
Adult breeding behaviors. Springtime in Knight Inlet has resident bears that are regularly seen in May and June. We expect some adult females will have kicked out their cubs and be receptive to breeding in the spring of 2026 and therefore reasonable odds several males may be in the region.

►Females with cubs. 2025 saw a number of females with cubs and we are likely to see them again in 2026. Social play, nursing, and negotiating around other bears is possible.

►Sub-adults / juveniles. There are several young bears who have been kicked out by their mother in recent years and are very likely to be in the area.

Other photo opportunities during this adventure:
►Dramatic and rugged fjord and waterfall scenery in Knight Inlet & surrounding region
►In-depth coastal temperate rainforest, trees, and river systems
►Migratory and nesting birds including Bald Eagles, Barrow’s Goldeneye, Common Merganser, Red Necked Grebe, Great Blue Heron, and many more.
►Other potential mammal sightings include: Black Bears, Harbour Seals, Killer Whales, Humpback Whales, Stellar’s Sea Lions, Columbia Black Tailed Deer, Pacific White-Sided Dolphins, Harbour Porpoise, Dall’s Porpoise, and Sea Otters, with potential for more.

To learn more about Eddy Savage

Eddy began working as a wildlife viewing guide in 2008 while he was in college studying Adventure Tourism. The little point and shoot camera that he purchased became a fixture in my guiding equipment. It came with Eddy on each and every day-trip, kayak adventure, canoe adventure, and multi-day expedition along the British Columbia coastline. In 2013, Eddy began working as a Naturalist Guide at the world renowned grizzly bear lodge – Knight Inlet Lodge. He spent thousands of hours watching grizzly bears in rivers and estuaries and began to recognize some photography potential. Eddy was inspired to begin investing more time into the craft. Working at Knight Inlet Lodge was the perfect mixture of wilderness immersion, abundant wildlife, and guests and colleagues with an impressive knack for photography. Eddy loved asking guests and colleagues about their camera settings, composition ideas, and sharing images from the days excursions. It was a fountain of knowledge, growth, experimentation, and learning. Eddy borrowed his sister’s DSLR and fittingly dropped it and broke the lens. He ended up buying a new camera and a two new lenses (one for Eddy’s sister). It seemed that each year Eddy went back for a season of bear viewing, His skills had improved, but also he was investing in his camera kit. Eddy also began printing my photographs in larger format and had his wonderful photography featured in several galleries on Vancouver Island.

In 2015, in partnership with Norman Carr Safaris in the South Luangwa Region of Zambia, Eddy took part in a guide-exchange. He spent three weeks shadowing some of the best guides in the region. Camera in hand, Eddy was able to observe some of the best guides in the country spotting wildlife, observing wildlife, and talking about wildlife. This experience was also paired with six weeks in Kenya, exploring the beautiful country with a lifelong friend and conservationist. It was eye-opening, inspiring, and further fueled Eddy’s passion for travel and exploration.

In 2016, Eddy was looking to expand his guiding and photography to other regions. Eddy had always had his eye on Churchill, Manitoba to work as a polar bear viewing guide. He connected with Natural Habitat Adventures and they brought Eddy on board to run their Polar Bear Expeditions. After five expeditions, They have continued working together and have now lead their photography expeditions globally. Beyond that, Eddy has had opportunities to sail the entire British Columbia coastline, kayak guide in Antarctica, and spend time as a Naturalist and Mate aboard expedition sailboats. This type of travel, exploration, and photography guiding is Eddy’s passion and he is excited to share this with you!
